14 Jun Working Harder to Make Life Easier
When we talk about working harder, sometimes we think of long hours “I’ve done a 12 hour shift; I’ve done a 10 /14 hour shift” whatever long hours means to you. Sometimes during those long hours we have worked really hard & we’ve achieved all that we wanted to do in that time. Other times during those long hours we have worked; we haven’t always worked very efficiently or very effectively to get the best out of ourselves during that time & to achieve the results we want.
The hard work that I refer to is doing some self-reflection & continuously looking at how can I work differently & work more effectively & come up with different ways of working so that I get to my results more quickly. It’s really about:
- Recognising that I want to change how I am doing things
- Acknowledging the things I’m doing that are not working well right now
- Considering ideas I can come up with that lead to more effective ways of working & getting your results more quickly
That is where the hard work comes in, by continuously reflecting on what you are doing & the results it is giving you; by identifying where I am not working as effectively as I could & where I haven’t come up with the best ideas on how I can work more productively or that I haven’t spotted the right opportunity which will help me to get the results that I want.
Continuously looking at this can be difficult & this is the hard work that helps us to get the right results more quickly & more effectively.

That is where you can notice the things that you are doing that are not contributing to any results that you are getting.
In doing things, it doesn’t always give us the results that we need.
Ask yourself “Of all the stuff that I am doing, what is my purpose behind it? How does it link back to the results that I want?”
Get into the habit of continuous self-reflection & doing the hard work of recognising the areas you can change. Add a comment with the changes that you have made based on reflecting on your work habits?
